Please try the latest unstable, I also had issues with the one before the latest image with locale.
This one also seems like a dupe, I remember I saw this one before, though before I do anything, please state your version...

How can I state SHR-unstable version? Don't have an idea. Maybe a version of some package?

Only can say that did an update/upgrade today at 07:00 UTC.

I also had it with opkg upgrade, please try using the latest image.
I know it's a bit of an inconvenience, though this is the UNSTABLE branch after all.
Btw, that solved this for me.

Just reflashed it to this: http://build.shr-project.org/shr-unstable/images/om-gta02/shr-shr-lite-image-glibc-ipk--20090522-om-gta02.rootfs.jffs2

And this bug is still here. It appears on just received sms. If you go to messages highlight a message and press 'answer' OR if you go to messages highlight a message, press 'show' and then 'answer' it will work. But it will not if you have just received it and it is on your screen and you press 'answer'.

It really disturbs that had to reflash.

Maybe ophonekitd is still running with C locale? Can you check, if it's still happening with "LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8 ophonekitd"?

Changed 14 months ago by ivvmm

Yes, that helped. How to turn this on always?

Changed 14 months ago by TAsn

add this line to /etc/profile :
export LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8

  • status changed from new to closed

Then it's locale problem.

It seems not. I changed

export LC_ALL=en_GB.UTF-8

to

export LC_ALL=ru_RU.UTF-8

and typing again does not work.

Did you install russian locale before doing that?...

Changed 14 months ago by ainulindale

Could you please reflash latest, install the russian locale (glibc-binary-localedata-ru IIRC), change /etc/profile, reboot your device, and retest?

Changed 14 months ago by ivvmm

It seems to have gone away. Relashed and did all you asked yesterday.

Trying to reopen ticket.
I've installed SHR-U on Feb 27.
I have next packages installed:

$ opkg list-installed | grep ru

eglibc-binary-localedata-ru-ru - 2.11-r9.1.4
eglibc-binary-localedata-ru-ua.koi8u - 2.11-r9.1.4
eglibc-localedata-ru-ru - 2.11-r9.1.4
gtk+-locale-ru - 2.18.6-r7.1.4
illume-keyboard-russian -

1:0.0+gitr11+89e689967d8a9e29d5a3bf84bfa32214f438a323-r0.4

illume-keyboard-russian-terminal -

1:0.0+gitr11+89e689967d8a9e29d5a3bf84bfa32214f438a323-r0.4

libframeworkd-phonegui-efl-locale-ru -

0.0.3+gitr848+9d7ca1cecb93022e5b890cd87756ac6f072710ca-r36.4

locale-base-ru-ru - 2.11-r9.1.4
locale-base-ru-ua.koi8-u - 2.11-r9.1.4
opimd-utils-locale-ru -

1:0.0.3+gitr160+1872cdebe1209123710259e25cb8c8b47a627112-r0.4

shared-mime-info-locale-ru - 0.51-r2.4
task-fonts-truetype-core - 1.0-r0.4

locale is set to "ru_RU.UTF-8".
But I can't use russian in messages and contacts. Another person who installed
SHR-U at the same time also have such a problem.

Please check that you have libx11-locale installed (should be pulled as task-shr-minimal-x dependency again).

And recheck if it's still broken (works for me).

Thanks TAsn for finding this missing package.
