Okay, I could reproduce this. It is a problem with receiving messages when there is no room for new messages on your SIM.
steps to repro:
- Look at how much SMS you can have in your SIM
- Make sure you have that but one in your SIM
- write yourself (or convince other people) a sms
expected result:
- the SMS is shown with a warning your inbox is full and no new messages will arrive.
actual result:
- the new message sound is played.
- no screen with new message
- no screen with warning about inbox full
- and if you restart your device, you can't start openmoko-messages and openmoko-contacts

This bug is probably caused by upgrading a testing installation with unstable feeds and installing the old libframeworkd-phonegui-efl (that was locationed in shr.bearstech.com) and that cocktail isn't fruity.
(And this cocktail had probably a missing package, named elementary)
Now with the unstable goodness, This bug is gone, thanks quickdev!!
