display sometimes stays semi-dimmed even when tapped on

Description

If you tap on the display in the right moment, it's possible to confuse the logic so that the display stay semi-dimmed, even if you then tap on it.

It stays this way until you let it dim completely and then tap on it again.

The situation is difficult to reproduce, in general one has to tap on the display around the moment the display entered the semi-dimmed state. (The backlight just finished lowering the intensity from full brightness.)

This highly depends on the exact moment you tap the screen.
