Contacts/messages gone

Description

Yesterday I upgraded my Freerunner to the new SHR-testing.

My contacts aren't listed, nor are my messages. I can happily add new contacts though. I haven't been able to test incoming/outgoing messages due to ticket #999

Happend to me to.
was solved by removing (but keep backup!) /etc/freesmartphone/opim/pim.db and running the conversion script /usr/bin/opimd_convert_db again.

I solved it by re-importing my backup using the DBUS interface ;-) but still, contacts disappearing after an upgrade is a bug in itself.

The proper solution seems to be to remove /etc/freesmartphone/opim/pim.db and to run /usr/bin/remove-tel

Still, this should have been done properly in the upgrade.

Oh, don't remove pim.do (or run opimd_convert_db after that)

Did your contacts return? I read that SIM was diasbled atm in SHR-U releases?

comment:6 Changed 2 years ago by sybren

My contacts returned after running my own backup/restore-script. My messages also returned after re-running opimd_convert_db.

Happened to me three! What is the official (safest) fix for this?

  • Status changed from new to closed
  • Resolution set to invalid

The official way is printed to the console during upgrade and was announced an the ML too:

There is such a tremendous amount of information printed during the upgrade that you can't expect a normal user to read them all. As far as I've seen, there is no warning at the _end_ of the upgrade that you're about to (temporarily) loose all your contacts and messages.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
